Well, it’s about a month and a half since I came home. I had absolutely wonderful holidays with my loved ones and I’ve had a surprisingly easy time readjusting to the US. Plus, New England (the northeast area of the US, for my international friends) has had more snow this winter than I can ever remember. Since Christmas, we’ve been getting a foot almost every week. Even though a little bit of it melted, at this point the accumulated snow is up to my waist and nearly all of the snowdrifts are far taller than I am. This has resulted in some pretty bad cabin fever, but juggling knives helps keep it at bay.
But cabin fever begone! I’ve got some news up my sleeve! I mean… I guess you sort of already know it from the title, but here are the specifics: In a couple hours I’ll be moving to Boston. For the time being, I’ll stay at my cousin’s while Roommate and I hunt down an apartment. There is one place we might have found, but since I haven’t heard from them in a while, it might be a lost cause. Either way, Roommate is house-sitting in February, so he’s not looking to move in until March anyway so we’ve got some time.
And I have a job! Well, two, actually. (Part-time, clearly.) The first is an after school program as a ‘group leader’ so I’ll be hanging out with kids, helping them with homework, and leading enrichment activities. The other is a non-teaching job at a circus school. Both are non-profits and I start for the after school program on Monday! I’ll still probably pick up some temp jobs on weekends and school holidays, just to save up for my next adventure.
…which will hopefully be the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August! Nothing is set in stone or even in Jell-O, but one of my very good circus friends will be there and that’s all the persuading I need. So now it’s just a process of putting away some money for those rainy days in Scotland!
In the meantime, I’m excited about Boston! And I will at some point get around to editing and uploading the second half of my trip on flickr, I promise! I’ll mention it when I finally get to it.
Well, this is exciting for you, but I love having you home. Maybe I should start a circus school here? hahahaha
or maybe I should change the profile of my school here
) hehehe – GOOD LUCK !
